11.00 – 14.00 Charles I charter and display – what did this charter bestow on Queenborough? What part did our MP play in Charles I execution? Plus, Wildfire III our WWII minesweeping base, Queenborough castle and Edward III charter, Queenborough’s varied history in photos and memorabilia.
Entry – adults: £1, children under 16: free.
Church
Visit the historic church, view the painted ceiling and historical sacrament documents. Free although donations gratefully received.
Castle Connections
19.00 Quiz including Queenborough history. Includes supper. Proceeds to Castle Connections ‘Upstairs Loo Fund’

Art Studio: Former Co-op Queenborough High Street
12.00 – 16.00 Visit Nicola Mollett’s new art studio showcasing paintings of boats and ships. Be one of the first to see her work at this new venue opening especially for this weekend.

Big Fish
14.00 (to be confirmed) – Queenborough history walk from the Castle site around Queenborough pointing out interesting facts and history; visit the site of poor Emma’s murder, the great and good buried in the churchyard and much more. Free however a donation is gratefully received.

Archaeology Training Workshop (Heritage and Museum Skills)
Participant Information
Interested in stories, problem solving, history, the outdoors or archaeology? Join Archaeologist from Museum of London Archaeology to explore and record the remains of a medieval castle on the island.
The first 45 minutes of the workshop will be spent learning how to identify archaeological remains and features in the landscape as well as how to use the tools and surveys archaeologists employ to record them
In the second hour, participants will be led on short excursion to locate a significant archaeological feature which survives in Queenborough. They will apply their new recording skills to record parts of the in-situ archaeology in teams or on their own if preferred.

*Participants who are aged 18 -25 and not in current employment of further education will have any public transport costs reimbursed at the event when the show a valid ticket. Snacks and refreshments provided throughout.
