Coasts in Mind – Archaelogy in Queenborough
Artefact and Photogrametry Recording for Archaeology in Queenbourough 07/06/2026 with Queenborough Guildhall Museum and Sheerness and Sittingbourne Job Centres
In addition to events in Sheerness, we also made an effort to spread out across the Isle of Sheppey to hold events in other communities. At the Guildhall Museum in Queen’sborough, we held an archival handling and training course attended by members of the local public and volunteers from the museum itself.
The event was shaped to highlight the deep history and richness of the local area. As part of the event, a range of finds from the museum’s own catalogue were brought forward for analysis and recording using free online software to make 3D models. The emphasis was placed on upskilling attendees and giving them new skills to support their own research and volunteering for the museum going forward.

Launch of Festival of Sheppey 2026
The mayors of Swale and Queenborough and MP Kevin McKenna, listened to short presentations from the Island’s five museums at Wetherspoon’s Belle and Lion pub. Then they had a history tour to the Criterion, Blue Town.

Visit from the Duke of York
5th April 2018
We were lucky enough to be chosen for a visit from the Duke of Kent. He was introduced to various members of the community who had involvement with the Museum. The Duke spent about half an hour with us and seemed to enjoy his visit. He is seen here with Linda Vine, discussing the Queenborough Charter celebrations planned for May 2018.
